What is IELTS?

Types of Examinations:

IELTS A (Academic):

Tests English skills on more advanced, academic vocabulary.

  • Describing visual information from graphs, charts, and diagrams
  • Writing an essay in response to a point of view, argument, or problem

IELTS G (General Training):

Tests English skills on more general, conversational vocabulary.

Includes:

Reading passages from advertisements, newspapers

Writing a letter based on a given prompt

Writing an essay in response to a point of view or argument

Individuals who plan to apply to higher education institutions like colleges and universities should take IELTS A, which prepares them to understand more sophisticated language present in texts.
